Umbreen is a lawyer in the Finance team at Pinsent Masons, Dubai. She focuses her practice on investment grade and leveraged finance, asset finance, project finance, trade finance and real-estate finance transactions based on both conventional and Islamic structures. Umbreen has substantial experience of advising some of the most prominent banks, financial institutions, private equity houses, corporates and government-related borrowers. Umbreen has acted on several big ticket deals in the region such as:
• advising a consortium on its bid for the Ras Laffan City IWPP project in Qatar
• advising Dubai Islamic Bank on the AED265 million murabaha facility provided to Marka Hospitality Investment for the acquisition of Reem Al Bawadi
• advising a major Dubai-based Islamic bank on the USD25 million murabaha facility provided to a prominent Turkish financial institution
• advising the sponsors of a 7.5Mt/a coal mining and a 2x330MW power project in Tharparkar, Pakistan
• advising a major UAE bank on the AED48 million financing provided for the development of Sowwah Square in Abu Dhabi
• advising Dubai Properties Group in relation to its contractual arrangements with a contractor regarding the AED2,500,000,000 financing of construction projects in Dubai
• advising Standard Chartered Bank in relation to a USD70 million loan financing of a real estate development in the Dubai creek area
• providing Islamic finance and structuring advice to a major UK-based oil & gas company regarding its acquisition of participating interests in gas blocks in Egypt
