Sonal advises on all aspects of commercial intellectual property, including franchising, media, licensing and exploitation of brands, advertising and compliance matters.
Sonal advises clients on a wide range of matters including, copy clearance, ASA complaints and appeals, brand promotion, commercial and non-commercial exploitation of brands, licensing, sales and prize promotions, as well as working on a number of other related matters for advertising agencies. She also drafts and assists in negotiating advertising-related and sponsorship agreements. Sonal also advises members of the ISBA on queries deriving from the legal hotline.
As well as advising UK companies on English law matters, Sonal’s practice also covers advising non-UK companies, particularly US companies on the viability and mechanics of operating prize promotions and sales promotions in the UK and the legal compliance of related promotional materials and terms and conditions. Sonal also works closely with local counsel across Europe, the Middle East and other parts of the world on multi-jurisdictional promotions for international clients. Professional memberships include the US Promotions and Marketing Association.
Sonal has advised domestic and international franchise clients in the food & beverage, retail and service providers sectors in relation to the expansion of franchise businesses into various territories and exit strategies and related commercial issues.
