Robert Walton

Robert was called in 1999. He has an extensive practice in all aspects of planning, compulsory purchase and compensation, judicial review, local government, rating, village green, waste and transport law. He undertakes work for private developers, central and local government, public bodies and interest groups.

Planning

Robert's planning work focuses on advising clients in preparation for, and appearing at public inquiries and in the higher courts. He also advises clients on all aspects of planning law, including policy formulation, development control and enforcement.

Judicial Review

Robert's judicial review / statutory review practice focuses on challenges to planning decisions - whether by the Secretary of State, Inspectors or Local Planning Authorities - and again extents right across the planning law and local government spectrum.

The 2013 Planning Law survey ranks Robert as one of the best junior planning barristers in England and Wales. Robert was the top ranked planning barrister in England and Wales in the 'under 35 category for three consecutive years.
