Professor Owen Warnock

Owen Warnock graduated in law at Cambridge University in 1979. He qualified as a solicitor and has been a Partner in what is now the international law firm Eversheds LLP since 1985. Since 2011 he has also held the post of Professor of Employment Law at the University of East Anglia.

Owen has specialised in the field of employment law for over 30 years. His main current interests are collective labour law (industrial action, union recognition for bargaining, union-related rights etc.), cross-border employment law and age discrimination. His clients include multi-national businesses, British plcs and a number of NHS Foundation Trusts. Owen has represented clients as an advocate before the Central Arbitration Committee, the Employment Tribunals and the Employment Appeal Tribunal.

Owen is also a specialist in the law relating to the labelling, advertising and composition of food in the UK, Europe and across the world and his food law clients include many well-known brands.

Since joining the UEA in 2011, Owen's time has shifted increasingly to teaching and legal scholarship, but he remains in active practice as a partner at Eversheds.

Owen is an Editor of Harvey on Industrial Relations and Employment Law, joint author of Employment Law in the NHS (Thomson) and was the contributing editor of the Food title to the 2000 4th edition reissue of Halsbury's Laws of England.
