Nicola A. Berry has been in practice since 2002 and is qualified to practice in Barbados and Jamaica. She provides advice to local, regional and international clients on corporate and commercial law matters including, corporate finance, securities law, mergers and acquisitions, and energy related matters.
Prior to joining the firm, she worked as senior Crown Counsel in the Litigation Division of the Jamaican Attorney General's Chambers where she represented the Government before the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal in matters including banking and commercial law. Nicola also worked in the International Law Division where she advised the State on matters relating to CARICOM and trade law. In 2005 Nicola was selected by the United Nations Office in Geneva to be a participant in the annual International Law Seminar held in conjunction with the meetings of the International Law Commission.
Nicola's commercial law practice is complemented by her Masters in International Business Law which she pursued as a British Chevening Scholar at the University College of London. Nicola has tutored international law at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus and has delivered papers on topical commercial law issues including to the Barbados Bar Association and the UWI, Cave Hill Campus, Caribbean Commercial Law Workshop. Nicola has also attended various professional courses in relation to her commercial practice.
Nicola is a director on the Board for The Substance Abuse Foundation Inc., a Barbados registered charity, which operates the Verdun House treatment facility for individuals suffering from substance abuse addiction or dependency.
