Elaine Hunter

Elaine studied, trained and qualified in Scots law in 1997. After working as part of a Scottish real estate team for a further two years, she thereafter relocated to London and re-qualified in English law whilst working in the commercial real estate team of a city firm. She returned to Scotland and joined Tods Murray's commercial real estate team in January 2001 and has been a partner in the team since January 2006. Tods Murray regularly assists English law firms with the Scottish aspects of cross-border deals, many of which are corporate or finance deals involving multiple properties in Scotland and England. Elaine is highly experienced in advising on those deals because of her understanding of real estate and the law in both jurisdictions. She has advised on the Scottish aspects of numerous high value and complex cross-border transactions. In addition, she has wide experience of all aspects of Scottish real estate and acts for a broad mixture of clients including retail tenants, landlords, housing associations, private healthcare companies (with nursing home assets), hospitality and leisure clients (including hotel management companies), investors, developers, SMEs and funders. Elaine also leads the property team which provides support on PFI, PPP and renewables projects and has worked on more than 20 such transactions.
