Bijan practices in public and administrative law and human rights. He has a particular interest in immigration, prisoners’ rights and community care.
His recent cases have raised a broad spectrum of issues including: protected rights under the European Convention on Human Rights; asylum and subsidiary international protection; British nationality law; general immigration under the Immigration Rules; EU law; and, immigration detention. As well as acting in judicial review applications in these areas, Bijan represents appellants in both the First-tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber.
Bijan contributed to the most recent edition of Macdonald’s Immigration Law & Practice. He is also a regular contributor to the Free Movement immigration law blog and has had articles on human rights law published in academic journals.
Before coming to the Bar, Bijan worked for a number of legal and quasi-legal civil society organisations dedicated to protecting vulnerable and disenfranchised members of society.
