EXPLANATORY NOTE

EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Education (Student Support) (European Institutions) (No 2) Regulations 2006 (“the Principal Regulations”). The Principal Regulations provide for support for eligible students taking designated higher education courses at Bologna Centre, the College of Europe or the European University Institute in respect of an academic year beginning on or after 1st September 2007. These Regulations and the Principal Regulations apply to England only.

Regulation 5 amends the definition of a “relevant date” from “1st February 2007” to “1st February 2008”. Regulations 6 and 7 amend the deadlines for applications for support and the receipt of financial information for the academic year beginning on or after 1st September 2009.

The Schedule to these Regulations sets out the increase in the amounts of support payable to eligible students for the academic years beginning on or after 1st September 2009.

An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as it has no impact on business, charities or voluntary bodies. The impact on the public sector is minimal.
