EXPLANATORY NOTE

EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Order)

Section 23 of the National Lottery etc Act 1993 specifies the bodies that are to distribute sums paid into the National Lottery Distribution Fund. Subsection (1) deals with sums paid into that Fund and allocated for expenditure on or connected with the arts. This Order increases the percentage held for distribution by the UK Film Council from 12.2% to 13.52% and makes a corresponding decrease in the percentage held for distribution the Arts Council of England. The UK Film Council is the body with the primary responsibility for awarding grants from National Lottery proceeds in respect of films and film-making and is a company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales (registered number 3815052). This Order also updates the name of the UK Film Council to reflect the change of the name of that company.
