Prison - Prison conditions - Smoking
Prison Prison conditions. The Crown was not bound by the prohibition of smoking in most enclosed public places and workplaces (the smoking ban), contained in Ch 1 of of the Health Act 2006 (). The Supreme Court so ruled in dismissing the appellant prisoner's appeal against the Court of Appeal, Civil Division's decision, in favour of the Secretary of State, that the Crown was not bound by the smoking ban.
