Contempt of court - Committal - Breach of court order - Sentence - Numerous breaches of court orders admitted or found proved against second defendant in proceedings concerning large-scale fraud - Appropriate sentence.

The Case

Contempt of court Committal. The Chancery Division passed sentence on the second defendant for a number of acts of contempt of court, committed in ongoing administration proceedings which arose from a misappropriation of the claimant company's funds in the sum of approx 43m. The total sentence passed was 18 months' imprisonment.
