Sentence Mandatory life sentence. A term of 11 years would be set, less the time spent in custody on remand, following a reference under para6 of Sch22 to the in the case of a woman convicted of the murder of her husband. The murder had been committed by knife wounds and done in such a way as to appear that the dog had killed the deceased, a version which the offender maintained until cross-examination at trial.
