Sentence Mandatory life sentence. On a reference to the High Court under para6 of Sch22 to the for it to set the minimum term to be served by the offender, who had been sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, in circumstances where he had strangled the deceased, a regular drinking companion, with a pair of trouser legs whilst subject to a suspended sentence for having struck the deceased over the head with a candlestick, the minimum term would be set at ten years, less ten months and thirteen days spent in custody on remand.
