Sentence - Imprisonment - Length of sentence - Sexual assault on a child under the age of 13 - Whether sentence manifestly excessive.
Sentence Imprisonment. Where the defendant had been convicted of sexual assault on a child under the age of 13 and had been sentenced to four years' imprisonment, the sentence was manifestly excessive and would be reduced to two years' imprisonment. Account had to be taken in particular of the fact that the defendant had no relevant previous convictions and that the present sentence would be his first custodial sentence.
