Sentencing - Obtaining money transfers by deception - Custodial sentence - Guilty plea - Whether sentence manifestly excessive in all circumstances.
In the circumstances of the instant case, where a defendant pleaded guilty to 36 offences of frauds, to the total value of 492,177, against complainants to whom the defendant was in a position of trust, a sentence of six years' imprisonment was appropriate. It was a serious aggravating factor that the defendant committed the offences against two groups of complainants, whilst she was on bail in respect of offences committed against another group.
