The Case

In the instant case, where the defendant had been convicted of rape, the complainant's credibility had been so significantly damaged by false and inconsistent statements she had made after the conviction to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority in support of her application, that the appeal would be allowed and the conviction quashed.
