The Case

In all the circumstances, Notwithstanding that the defendant was on licence at the time of the offence and major injuries were caused to four vital organs in the victim's neck, a sentence of nine years' imprisonment for an offence of wounding with intent, contrary to s18 of the was manifestly excessive.
