Employment - Wages - Unauthorised deduction - Employer introducing short time working - Reduction in employees' wages as result - Lawfulness of deduction - s 13.
In connection with a complaint that there had been an unlawful deduction of wages within the meaning of s13 of the arising out of the introduction by the employer of short time working, the Employment Appeal Tribunal ruled that in the circumstances, although the reasoning of the employment tribunal was flawed, its conclusion that there had been an unauthorised deduction from wages was correct.
