Negligence - Duty of care - Employer - Residential social worker injured whilst answering door - Employer not having fitted security chain to door - Employer's liability.
The judge had been entitled to find that the defendant local authority had been neither negligent nor in breach of the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1992 in failing to fit a security chain to the front door of a residential children's unit at which the claimant was employed as a residential social worker.
