Medical practitioner - Disciplinary proceedings - Appeal against judgment of disciplinary committee - Claimant mother of child at Alder Hey hospital - Independent inquiry ordered after parents informed that organs removed by hospital without consent - Proceedings for misconduct not commenced against doctors involved - Whether screening process properly implemented.
The court held that the Preliminary Proceedings Committee had been entitled to screen out complaints against doctors, which were raised after a report into the removal of organs at the Alder Hey Hospital, however, those who had screened the cases prior to them having reached the PCC had not applied the correct test in relation to one of those doctors.
