Jason Chuah

He is Professor of Law and Head of Academic Law at the City Law School, City University London. He is also an Executive Director of the London Universities Maritime Law and Policy Research Group. He is on the World Intellectual Property Organisation's list of specialist speakers, and was a speaker for the International Securities Markets Association training courses. He has been nominated at least three times by his students for the Oxford University Press Award for Best Law Teacher of the Year.


He has held scholarships from Barclays Bank and the UK Overseas Development Authority at St Johns College, Cambridge University. He was the holder of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Award and the Cambridge Commonwealth Fellowship and also has a Certificate in Export with Distinction from the Institute of Export, winning the Clive Schmitthoff Commercial Law prize and the Sweet & Maxwell book prize.



He sits on the Editorial Board of five journals: Journal of International Maritime Law, Shipping and Trade Law, International Company and Commercial Law Review, International Trade Law and Regulation and Finance and Credit Law. He is also a regular contributor in the Student Law Review and the European Journal of Commercial Contract Law. Over 250 of his articles are listed on Westlaw and LexisNexis. He was also co-author of Butterworths Banking Law Guide. His works have been cited by institutions in the UK, US and EU. He has also been quoted in the media including the BBC, the Guardian, Inter-Lawyer, Shipping & Marine, Fairplay, the IBA etc. He is a specialist peer reviewer for the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council and has been involved in various consultations with the UK Ministry of Justice, the OECD, the ICC, the Association of British Insurers, the UNCITRAL, etc.
