Olivia Burnett

Olivia N. D. Burnett is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados where she obtained a LL.B. (Hons.) degree in 2011. She then obtained the Legal Education Certificate of Merit from the Hugh Wooding Law School ("HWLS") in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in 2013 and was included on the Principal's Roll of Honour. Olivia was the recipient of several academic awards during her time at HWLS including the Council of Legal Education Prize for Most Outstanding Year I Student, the Peterson, Lambert-Peterson & Co. Prize for Best Performance in Evidence & Forensic Medicine, the Trinity Chambers Prize for Best Performance in Criminal Practice & Procedure and the Chairman's Prize. Olivia also represented the Hugh Wooding Law School at the 2012 Lex Caribbean Regional Client Interviewing Competition in the Bahamas. Further, Olivia was awarded the 2013 Barbados Law Association Prize for Best Performance by a student from Barbados. Olivia joined Clarke Gittens Farmer in September 2013 and after being called to the Bar in Barbados in October 2013, was later confirmed as an Associate in the firm. Her current practice is concentrated on mergers and acquisitions, takeovers, energy law, securities law, and both international and domestic capital markets for debt financing. Olivia is interested in anything related to the performing arts. She is a dancer, a writer and is also an active member of her church where she allows her passion for God to overflow into activities gearing towards social transformation, development of young people and the arts.
