Stuart qualified as a solicitor at Dickinson Dees in 1996 and returned in 2000 having developed his practice in environmental and health and safety law at S.J. Berwin & Co and Nabarro Nathanson.

He now heads up the firm’s Environment & Safety Team, advising clients on the full range of environmental and health and safety legal issues including compliance matters, civil and criminal litigation and the environmental and health and safety aspects of corporate, property and commercial transactions.

Stuart advises on all aspects of environmental and health and safety compliance, helping clients develop regulatory compliance protocols and assisting and coordinating crisis management responses to operational incidents. He also routinely deals with enforcement cases including assisting clients with investigations and prosecutions by the Environment Agency, Health and Safety Executive, local authorities and the police.

His risk management work includes assisting clients in the environmental aspects of the acquisition, funding and disposal of properties, companies and other assets and services, involving coordination of due diligence, advising on liability risk and management, negotiating and drafting contractual terms and organising remediation.

Stuart represents clients across a broad range of sectors, with particular focus of the chemicals, automotive, waste management, property investment/development, banking and public sectors.
