Shobana is a practicing barrister, having qualified in 2002 with a wealth of experience in commercial dispute resolution (mainly litigation & arbitrations) including challenges to jurisdiction matters, and specialises in complex commercial, IP & TMT cases, often with an international element.
Her main practice areas are commercial, chancery, media, IP and TMT law. Shobana is known for dealing effectively with complex cases and is a specialist in the entertainment and technology-based sectors. She also has a wealth of experience in dealing with corporate disputes (involving UK corporate compliance, company law, directors duties, JVs and outsourcing etc.) as well as insurance and finance related matters.
Shobana sits on the Bar Council’s Legal Services and IT Panel Committees playing an active role in deciding on key issues affecting the profession and the wider community particularly in relation to the implementation of IT developments, data protection, cyber security, IoT and AI advancements.
Shobana also sits on the COMBAR’s Brexit (Arbitration) Sub-Committee working in particular on Investment Arbitrations and reporting on the practicalities and potential legal implications of Brexit on investment treaty arbitration on UK
