Sakya Chaudhuri (Counsel, Trilegal, New Delhi) advises on matters in dispute resolution, arbitration and competition law. His experience includes dispute resolution across several practice areas, including infrastructure and economic regulation. Sakya has a wide experience in regulatory matters in the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts and Tribunals. He is a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association and an Advocate-on-Record for the Supreme Court of India. He is also Amicus Curae with the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity.
Sakya has provided his expertise in competition law to many Indian and multinational companies such as Carrier, Bosch & Lomb and Bose in defending actions for unfair trade practices. He has represented clients in actions against anti-competitive practices in public procurement. Some of his major clients include Tata Power, Sterlite and Areva. Sakya has worked closely with the antitrust team of Allen & Overy on various competition law issues.
Significant matters undertaken by him include representing Tata Power in their various regulatory and competition law issues with regard to power generation and distribution in the city of Mumbai, including disputes with competitors, and successfully representing Citadel Equity Fund Limited in proceedings for grant of an injunction against a group of Indian Companies to prevent them from alienating assets in India which were procured on the basis of financial assistance provided by Citadel in an offshore jurisdiction.
