Rosie is an environmental lawyer and writer.
She qualified as a solicitor in the Treasury Solicitor’s Department, where she conducted planning litigation on behalf of the Planning Inspectorate and Secretary of State. She then moved to the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, where she advised ministers and policy-makers on wide-ranging environmental law issues, in particular: negotiating draft European directives; advising on the policy approaches for implementing them; drafting transposing legislation; and handling infraction challenges brought by the European Commission. These included multi-billion-dollar litigation under the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive: Commission v UK, Cases C-390/07 and C-301/10.
She currently works part-time for the United Kingdom Environmental Law Association and as a freelance writer.
