Rhys qualified as a solicitor in 1994. He is a pensions lawyer specialising in international and tax related pension issues, including QROPSs, QNUPSs and international pension plans.

He regularly writes articles and gives presentations on international pension issues.

He is member of the committee of the International Employee Benefits Association and holds the Diploma in International Employee Benefits, for which he was awarded the Part 1 prize.
