Phil is a partner at Bird & Bird specialising in IP/media law and reputation management.

Phil helps a wide range of corporate and celebrity clients to protect their reputation. His work is often behind the scenes, helping clients to pre-empt and avoid damaging publicity through use of various legal and non-legal tools, including the innovative use of privacy laws to obtain injunctions to protect the reputations of corporate clients. He has also acted in a number of important defamation and privacy cases, including P, Q & R v Quigley, and Al Rajhi v Wall Street Journal.

Phil also has extensive experience of acting for clients in confidential information, copyright, trade-mark, passing off and advertising disputes. He has acted on a number of Copyright Tribunal claims, including the recent unique background music reference in which he earned refunds of licensing fees for the retail sector of approaching £5million/year, and the current Tribunal in relation to the licensing model for online news content. He also advises a number of well known companies on the exploitation and protection and their brands and their confidential information.

Chambers 2010 ranks Phil as a 'Leading Individual' for reputation management and praises him for being 'level-headed and practical in his advice'.
