Phil Lee is a Partner in the Privacy and Information Law Group at Field Fisher Waterhouse, advising on all aspects of data privacy and information law, as well as wider online regulation. Phil holds Certified Information Privacy Professional (Europe) (CIPP/E) status.
His particular areas of interest include behavioural profiling, e-privacy and international data transfers. He has worked on large multi-jurisdictional data privacy projects spanning more than 30 countries. In addition to privacy and information law, Phil regularly advises on a wide variety of technology and digital media projects.
Chambers (2010) lists Phil as an ‘associate to watch’ and says that ‘Clients heap praise on him: “He was on the ball on the technological side but also a complete force of strength in negotiations."’ The Legal 500 (2010) says that Phil ‘impresses with his “down-to-earth approach and extensive technical knowledge."’
Phil holds an MA in Computer Science from Cambridge University and a postgraduate diploma in Intellectual Property from Bristol University. He writes regularly in the legal press on matters relating to information technology and data privacy, and co-authored the chapter on UK privacy law for the practitioners' textbook Global Privacy & Security Laws, published by Wolter Kluwers in the autumn of 2009. Phil is a committee member of the Society for Computer and Law's Privacy & Data Protection Group.
