Biography

Paula Ramada is a Partner with London Economics and leads the firm’s work in the area of competition. Paula has a PhD in Economics from MIT and prior to joining the firm taught at Northwestern University in the US and at the London Business School. During her 11 years at London Economics, Paula has managed and directed a large number of competition and consumer detriment projects. Her competition work has dealt with varied topics including market definition, merger simulation, and analysis of dominance and joint dominance. Most recently, she has worked extensively in the area of assessment of cartel damages in a wide range of sectors and in relation to a number of high profile international cartels. Her consumer detriment work has looked at situations where markets fail to work well for consumers. Paula has also completed a number of projects in the area of intellectual property rights considering the impact of different policies on, among others, the incentives to innovate.
