Martyn Huckerby is a Partner in the Corporate Group of the Shanghai office of King & Wood Mallesons, where he specialises in competition/antitrust, corporate, regulatory, and telecommunications law.
Martyn has particular expertise in advising clients on Chinese, EU and Australian regulatory issues and is recognised by Asialaw Profiles as “among the top competition lawyers in China”. He has extensive experience obtaining antitrust clearances in China in relation to large international transactions, including InBev’s acquisition of Anheuser-Busch and a European automobile manufacturer on a 50/50 JV with a Chinese firm. Martyn’s international merger control experience includes advising BlueScope on international merger filing requirements in relation to its $1.4 billion joint venture with Nippon Steel, and advising eBay on its acquisition of Skype. Martyn has also delivered compliance training to a variety of multinational organisations based in China and regularly advises clients on compliance and substantive competition law issues in China, including in relation to investigations by the regulatory authorities.
Martyn regularly speaks at public conferences and seminars on antitrust and regulatory issues. He is also the author of various published articles in Australia, US, Europe and China. Martyn is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia, and has previously practised in London and Shanghai at a “Magic Circle” law firm and in Sydney.
