Lisa Afonso

Lisa is a manager within the Financial Risk Management function of KPMG with over five years' experience in risk management and measurement within the financial industry (including banking, investment management and insurance) across Europe and Africa.

Lisa currently holds a leading role within KPMG as one of its regulatory subject matter experts in the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book ('FRTB') assisting to coordinate and shape a globally consistent approach to the new rules across KPMG member firms and understanding the challenges and implications across the banking industry. She is currently assisting to lead the decomposition and traceability of the rules for a prominent global bank.

In addition, Lisa is also a leading subject matter expert in operational risk measurement and management within banking, having led various operational risk related engagements related to the review and validation of operational risk models, the design and implementation of operational risk frameworks, risk and control assessments, key risk indicators, business continuity plans, as well as scenario analysis programmes.

Prior to joining KPMG, Lisa obtained an MSc in Quantitative Risk Management in 2010 with a thesis on Operational Risk AMA Modelling.

Lisa has also provided numerous internal and external training on the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book and Operational Risk. She has contributed to several news articles with Risk publications by Incisive media and has published articles on the KPMG external website and contributed to several LexisNexis titles.
