Biography

Katharine is employed at Withers LLP. She deals with cases across the whole spectrum of family work including divorce, financial claims, cohabitation and children matters. She has particular experience in cases with very complex international or financial issues, including those involving offshore assets and trusts. Many of Katharine's clients are in the public eye and she works closely with the firm's Reputation Management team. Katharine also advises clients in connection with contested children matters and drafts pre and post-nuptial or civil partnership agreements and cohabitation agreements.

    Katharine acted for the Husband in the Court of Appeal case Vaughan v Vaughan where the husband sought to terminate an order for maintenance payable to his former wife.

  • Katharine acted for the husband in the case of Charman v Charman, the leading case on trusts in the context of divorce and which case involved litigation in England and offshore.
  • Katharine acted for the husband in D v D (a case involving the nature of the recognition of an overseas divorce and the financial relief available in England).
  • Katharine acted for a client on the dissolution of his marriage to his husband in Canada, which was recognised as a Civil Partnership in England and Wales under the Civil Partnership Act 2004.
