Ian is a senior associate in Bird & Bird's Commercial Group in London. He joined the firm in 2005 after having trained and qualified with a leading Scottish law firm.

He regularly advises on a range of commercial contracts, such as complex outsourcing arrangements, software and content licences, software development agreements and product supply agreements. Ian acts for both customers and suppliers and has particular strength in the IT, e-commerce and telecommunications sectors.

His outsourcing experience extends to both business process and IT projects. He has advised on all aspects of the outsourcing process; from the tendering and bidding stages, through to full contract negotiation and implementation. Ian has advised on a number of complex multi-jurisdictional projects, many of which have related to emerging technologies,
