Biography

Heather is a professional support lawyer in Morton Fraser's Real Estate team.

Having spent more than 25 years as a real estate lawyer, many of those as a partner, Heather has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial property work including investment, development, property finance and leasing.

Most recently, she has been following the rapidly developing laws and regulations linking energy efficiency to real estate, including the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme, energy performance certification, the Green Deal and potential future rules on improvements to properties and/or prohibitions against letting properties which are facilitated by climate change legislation in Scotland and the Energy Act in the UK.

As a professional support lawyer, Heather ensures that the lawyers in Morton Fraser's real estate team always have the latest legal information at their fingertips. This involves providing training and guidance on current legal developments and generally keeping the team and clients up-to-date. Just as important in her work is the capture of the legal knowledge that Morton Fraser generate themselves, so that this is stored, shared and re-used efficiently, to get the best results for the firm's clients.
