Biography

Guy Roots QC specialises in town and country planning, environment, compulsory purchase and compensation, rating and valuation, and other local government and administrative law subjects. He has advised and acted for a wide spectrum of clients including companies, public utilities, local authorities, government and other agencies and individuals in relation to a huge range of planning, compensation, rating and other issues. He is particularly well known for his expertise in relation to major projects and compulsory purchase such as the London Olympic Games 2012, Heathrow Terminal 5, the regeneration of Greenwich Peninsula, the decommissioning of Trawsfynydd Nuclear Power Station and Windsor and Maidenhead Flood Relief Scheme. He is the General Editor of Ryde on Rating & the Council Tax (LexisNexis) and General Editor of the Compulsory Purchase & Compensation Service (Bloomsbury Professional). His practice extends to foreign jurisdictions including Hong Kong and the Cayman Islands.
