David Richardson

David specialises in Planning, Compulsory Purchase and Public law. He advises private sector developers, landowners, government bodies and public authorities. He is frequently instructed in relation to, in particular, residential development but also infrastructure, commercial and mixed use regeneration schemes. David advises on the full range of planning issues that may arise in bringing forward development, including planning obligations and the community infrastructure levy, judicial review and statutory challenges, development strategy and amendments to planning permissions, compulsory purchase and compensation, town and village greens and environmental impact assessment. He also advises clients in relation to planning policy.

Prior to joining Ashfords, David worked in Dentons market leading planning practice in London, and has spent time on secondment to a development corporation during which he assisted the corporation in promoting development in its area. He then joined Michelmores as Head of Planning in 2012, leaving in 2016 to join Ashfords, becoming the fifth partner in that team.

David is recognised as a leading figure in the planning field by the Legal 500, and in the nationwide top 50 list of planning lawyers in Planning Magazine's guide to Planning Lawyers 2014.
