Prior to joining the independent Bar of England and Wales in 2014, Cecilia served for over ten years in industries including international commerce, development and transport (including FTSE 100 company) and over eight years in a number of top London City solicitors’ firms in London and Shanghai. She has a wide range of commercial and chancery practice on both contentious and advisory work, in particular: Commercial law (contract law, e-commerce), Company law (M&A, shareholders, directors, partnership, PLCs), Commercial fraud & economic crime, Banking / financial services, Insurance / Re-insurance, Regulatory compliance, Private International law (shipping, international trade), and Litigation and Arbitration (LCIA, UNCITRAL, ICC, ICSID and ad hoc).
Many of Cecilia’s caseloads have strong international feature and relate to foreign jurisdictions such as New York, China, Hong Kong, BVI, Cayman Island, Dubai, Turkey and Africa. In advisory work, she acts for both buyers and sellers with a “very thorough and diligent” approach. On contentious side, she has wealth of experience in conducting litigation at all stages in the County Courts, High Court, Court of Appeal and Senior Courts Costs Office. Clients comment highly on her being “always on top of the proceedings“.
Having achieved a First Class BA (Hons) in International Trade in Beijing, China, Cecilia brings unique input into many clients’ matters, thanks to her native Chinese language (Mandarin) and cultural skills.
Cecilia is also a keen participant in public speaking engagements on topics relating to rule of law and foreign investment.
