Biography
Andrew Shindler is a partner in SJ Berwin's Commerce & Technology department, co-head of the firm's Technology sector group, a leading member of its Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences group and of its Consumer sector group. Andrew has a Masters degree in law from the University of London and joined SJ Berwin as a trainee in 1987, becoming a partner in 1997.
Andrew specialises in commercial and intellectual property law, principally within the IT, life science, consumer and leisure and hospitality sectors. His practice is focussed on drafting and negotiating contracts and advising on legal issues across these sectors, including in particular, outsourcing, procurement, research and development, licensing, distribution, merchandising, supply, services, manufacturing and agency contracts.
Andrew regularly acts on large scale outsourcing and procurement deals, for both suppliers and customers and for biopharmaceutical companies on their international development and licensing agreements with some of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies. He also advises on intellectual property, IT, licensing and contract issues associated with joint ventures, corporate mergers, acquisitions and investments.
Andrew also regularly lectures and writes on all of the above areas of law. He is the editor of the firm's ICT newsletter, Technology pICTure, a contributor to Life Sciences and Healthcare Update, the co-author of E-Contracts (Tottel 2007) and has for several years provided monthly editorial for the IT & Telecoms section on The In-House Lawyer.
Andrew is a trustee of the Cardiovascular Research Trust, a member and the former Secretary of the Commercial Law Committee of the City of London Law Society and a member of the Licensing Executives Society.
