This Order may be cited as the Police and Justice Act 2006 (Commencement No 7 and Savings Provision) Order 2008.

The following provisions of the Police and Justice Act 2006 shall come into force on 14th March 2008—

(a)    section 2 (amendments to the 1996 Act) in so far as it relates to the entries in Schedule 2 (amendments to the 1996 Act) referred to in sub-paragraph (b);

(b)    paragraphs 9 and 10 of Schedule 2;

(c)    section 52 (amendments and repeals) in so far as it relates to the entries in Schedule 15 (repeals and revocations) referred to in sub-paragraph (d);

(d)    in Part 1(B) of Schedule 15 (repeals: other repeals relating to Part 1) the entry relating to sections 6A, 7, 8 and 9 of the Police Act 1996.

Nothing in the coming into force of paragraph 10 of Schedule 2 to the Police and Justice Act 2006 and the repeal of section 9 of the Police Act 1996 (annual reports by police authorities) shall affect the duties of a police authority to issue a report under that section for the financial year ending 31st March 2008.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Order)

Article 2 of this Order brings into force paragraphs 9 and 10 of Schedule 2 to the Police and Justice Act 2006. Article 3 provides that despite the repeal of the obligation on police authorities to issue annual reports under section 9 of the Police Act 1996 police authorities shall be required to issue a report under that section for the year ending 31st March 2008.
