1 Citation and interpretation

(1)    This Order may be cited as the Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999 (Commencement No 14) Order 2002.

(2)    In this Order, references to sections and Schedules are references to sections of, and Schedules to, the Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999.

19th March 2002 is the day appointed for the coming into force of—

(a)    paragraph 14 of Schedule 2 (occupational pension schemes: certificates etc relating to minimum funding requirement), and section 18 so far as relating to it;

(b)    Part I of Schedule 13 in respect of the repeal in section 58(6)(a) of the Pensions Act 1995 (schedules of contributions), and section 88 so far as relating to it.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force provisions of the Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999 (“the Act”).

Article 1 deals with citation and interpretation.

Article 2 brings into force on 19th March 2002 paragraph 14 of Schedule 2 to the Act (which relates to occupational pension schemes: certificates etc relating to the minimum funding requirement), and section 88 of the Act so far as relating to that paragraph, and a related repeal in Part I of Schedule 13 to the Act.

An assessment of the cost to business of the commencement of provisions in the Act is detailed in the Regulatory Impact Assessment relating to the Act. A copy of the Assessment has been placed in the libraries of both Houses of Parliament.
