These Regulations increase the amount of the basic fee for television licences from £34.50 to £36.50 in the case of black and white and from £104.00 to £109.00 in the case of colour. In the case of licences for hotels and hospitality areas and mobile units, where the fee is calculated by reference to “the relevant amount”, that amount is increased from £33.50 to £36.50 in the case of black and white and from £101.00 to £109.00 in the case of colour. In the case of instalment licences—

(a)    the issue fee and subsequent instalments for the premium instalment licence (which is not available in the Channel Islands) are increased from £27.25 to £28.50 with the total amount payable being £114.00;

(b)    amendments are made in relation to the budget instalment licence to provide for 16 specified issue fees and a number of instalments thereafter, but in each case the total amount payable is £109.00;

(c)    amendments are made in relation to the “Easy entry” licence (which is not available in the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man) to provide for a wider range of issue fees and instalments, but in each case the total amount payable is £109.00.

These Regulations also make provision to abolish the fee payable for the replacement of a lost or destroyed licence in a case where the lost or destroyed licence was issued or renewed free of charge. They also amend (except in the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) the provision made for calculating the fee for an Accommodation for Residential Care Composite Form television licence, such that no account is taken of any unit of accommodation or dwelling that is the sole or main residence of a resident aged 75 years or more.
