These Regulations may be cited as the Education (School Inspection) (Amendment) Regulations 1999 and shall come into force on 1st April 1999.

In these Regulations, “the 1997 Regulations” means the Education (School Inspection) Regulations 1997.

(1) In regulation 5(1)(c) of the 1997 Regulations there shall be substituted for the words “the funding authority” the words “a person appearing to them to be an appropriate officer of the local education authority”.
(2) For regulation 5(2)(a) of the 1997 Regulations there shall be substituted—
“(a) a reference to “a school which has a delegated budget” is a reference to a school which has a delegated budget within the meaning of Part II of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998”.

In regulation 7(2) of the 1997 Regulations there shall be substituted for the words “five weeks” the words “six weeks”.

Regulation 13(4)(b) of the 1997 Regulations shall be omitted.

These Regulations amend the Education (School Inspection) Regulations 1997 so as to refer to schools' delegated budgets within the meaning of Part II of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998. References to the funding authority (the Funding Agency for Schools) are also removed. The Regulations also extend the period of time within which registered inspectors must complete reports of school inspections from 5 weeks to 6 weeks.
