The issue of the compulsory work experience scheme for job seekers was a hot topic in the news recently.
On the one hand, it seems reasonable to make those who are living off of the taxpayers’ money to do something useful for their ‘income’. They, in return, get valuable work experience that in this day and age is difficult to acquire.
On the other hand, companies are alleged to be exploiting the potential for ‘free labour’ and save costs. With this carries the consequence of fewer proper jobs.
There has to be a balance struck. We will never know a company’s true motive other than through the effects of their actions. Hopefully not all corporations are distrustful.
