Hello there. If you don't already know, I am going to be continuing as the LexisNexis Student Associate whilst I complete my final year. For those of you who don't know what this is, all will be revealed below.
My role is to offer both students and staff researching support using LexisNexis products. These products, for those of you who don't know, are vital to doing legal research; with over half a million cases, as amended legislation and an increasing amount of journals, LexisLibrary in particular is an essential to writing legal essays and revision. My role therefore is to ensure students/staff can use LexisLibrary to its full effectiveness as well as explaining how other products such as LexisCheck can make university study much easier and less stressful.
To do this, I offer a number of services:
- Drop-in sessions will be continuing in the Slaughter and May Room, although I have yet to confirm times. For those first years out there, these sessions are designed so you can drop-in with a researching query and I can do my best to help.
- Certificated sessions will also be continuing. These sessions teach you the how to use LexisLibrary to full capacity and give you an invaluable addition to your CV - a LexisNexis Research Certificate. Those applying for vacation schemes/training contracts/pupillages will soon realise how challenging the current legal market is and a LexisNexis Research Certificate offers a chance to stand out!
- Competitions, in particularly the Halsbury's Laws of England competition, will also be continuing. These offer a chance to learn new researching tools whilst putting yourself in with a chance to win a range of prizes, including this year an iPod Shuffle.
- Table Days will also be planned giving you a chance to ask me any questions about LexisNexis whilst also giving you some valuable LexisNexis stationary (INLCUDING HIGHLIGHLITERS!!).
The above are just a taste of the things I will be offering this year, so please do look out for other events via your email. If anyone has any questions at this point, please do not hesitate to contact me via email (llysjl@nottingham.ac.uk), Facebook (www.facebook.com/NULexisNexisSA) or twitter (@NULexisNexisSA).
