I read a rather interesting article on LegalWeek.com this week on client feedback on the City's top-performing law firms. Over 1,265 clients participated, including 71% of the FTSE 100. Clients graded firms on seven criteria: quality of legal advice; quality
of commercial advice; cost/billing practice; alternative billing
options; service delivery/responsiveness; use of IT; and
personal/partner relationships.
The results were quite staggering...and saw names I wouldn't expect at the bottom of the pack...
Lets kick off with the top-performers first, and it's a bit of a no surprise to see the following in the top list: Slaughter and May, Simmons & Simmons and Bird & Bird. However, what of the "low-performers?"... a number of major firms achieved below-trend scores from
clients, including Clifford Chance (CC), Baker & McKenzie, Shearman
& Sterling and Norton Rose. CC was the lowest-ranked firm in the
City/international category.
The results of this survery tell us that Magic circle doesn't always mean best....
What are your thoughts?
