It is well documented that graduate level jobs in the legal profession are among the most competitive positions in the world with some firms receiving over 200 applicants per place. Twin this with the task of getting into Law School and some people may find a career in law almost unobtainable.

There is, however, a credible alternative to the traditional Uni. to Law School to Training Contract trajectory and that is ILEX. The Institute of Legal Executives is an organisation that represents 22,000 qualified legal executives and provides flexible training and work opportunities. It is also recognised by the Ministry of Justice as one of the three ways to becoming a qualified solicitor.

There really are too many plus points to becoming a legal executive for me to copy out here but I would HIGHLY recommend checking out http://www.lexischeckdownload.co.uk/ for a route to qualification that means you can earn as you study and beat down some of the elitist prejudices still lingering in the legal profession.
