Costs - Assessment - Standard basis - Successful defendant claiming costs on indemnity basis - Unsuccessful claimant seeking to recover costs in relation to issues which defendant abandoned before trial - CPR Pt 44.
Costs Assessment. The Chancery Division of the High Court ruled that the successful defendant would be entitled to its costs on the standard basis, except for those costs arising from a ground that it had maintained for 18 months, and then abandoned.
