Road traffic - Dangerous driving - Defendant being driver of heavy goods vehicle - Defendant crashing into central reservation and driving wrong way down motorway - Defendant pleading guilty to dangerous driving - Defendant being disqualified from driving for three years - Whether period of disqualification manifestly excessive.
Road traffic Dangerous driving. The Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, reduced the period of disqualification from driving from 3 years to 12 month where a 66 year-old defendant had pleaded guilty to dangerous driving in circumstances where a combination of facts, including his medical condition, had resulted in the loss of control of a heavy goods vehicle
