The Case
Libel and slander Defamatory words. In libel proceedings brought by the claimant in relation to an article appearing in the defendant's newspaper and on its website, the Queen's Bench Division gave ruling on the meaning of the article by way of preliminary issue. The court also gave a ruling on the defence of fair comment.
